The FAHS Minority Fellowship Program (MFP), in collaboration with the National Service Committee (NSC), is designed to provide additional resources to students, addressing the critical shortage in mental health professionals and encouraging careers in marriage and family therapy (MFT). Through its new initiative, SPARK (Strengthening Pathways to Accessible Resources for Knowledge) MFT, the program will guide high school, community college, and vocational/technical trade school students from communities toward careers in behavioral health.
FAHS is seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to serve as members of the newly formed National Service Committee (NSC) for the FAHS MFP program. NSC members will play a key role in providing resources for students, developing partnerships with secondary-educational institutions, organizing events, and tracking program engagement and outcomes. The NSC will work collaboratively to strengthen pathways for students interested in marriage and family therapy careers.
Renumeration: Yes
Service: 12 months
Meetings: monthly, and then 1 in-person and 1 virtual event

We invite researchers, clinicians, and community leaders to submit proposals for live webinars (two-hours each) aligned with the theme, "Leadership and Community Strengths: Evidence-Based Practices for Mental Health Innovation and Recovery." We are seeking dynamic, interactive sessions that highlight leadership, culturally informed strategies, and the integration of community strengths in mental health and substance abuse treatment. Four (4) proposals will be selected to showcase innovative approaches to lasting recovery. Please see our Call for Proposals Information for help in submitting a proposal. 2026 MFP Doctoral Training Institute

Description: The FAHS MFP is encouraging researchers, clinicians, community leaders, and mental health professionals to submit one-page proposals for workshops, presentations, and research discussions at our upcoming conference. This year’s theme,
Navigating Change: Centering Community Voices in Substance Use and Mental Health Recovery, focuses on the integration of c Community strengths with research-driven approaches to sustainable mental health and recovery strategies that are community-informed. We especially encourage proposals that showcase leadership in advancing mental health and substance abuse treatment within communities. Proposals should include either (1) application to self of the researcher, (2) application to self of the administrator, and/or (3) application to self of the therapist. Proposals should provide a description of the workshop (not just a literature review, please detail what will occur in the workshop), learning objectives, and whether it can be a two- or three-hour workshop.
